Legends And Lattes by Travis Baldtree

Legends And Lattes
“After a lifetime of bounties and bloodshed, Viv is hanging up her sword for the last time. The battle-weary orc aims to start fresh, opening the first ever coffee shop in the city of Thune. With over 33,000 reviews, almost 172,000 ratings and a 4.15 Stars on Goodreads I doubt I have much to say about this one that hasn’t been said.

My short take: Cozy comfort fantasy that surprised me and captured my heart.

I enjoyed this one enough to finish it in one sitting the afternoon I purchased it. The author’s voice lends itself to pacing that keeps the pages turning, your attention fixed and your imagination rollicking. It was just good old fun reading.

L&L is a character driven piece with just enough world building to support the narrative. I found it to have a balance that I enjoyed.

My odd take is to call this work a fantasy version of a Hallmark/Lifetime movie but good.

Hear me out:

  • Girl decides to settle down and open a coffee shop after a life of on-the-go high stakes business.
  • Local elements attempt to thwart her efforts.
  • Her past comes back to haunt her threatening to destroy it all.
  • Oh, there’s a romance angle too!
  • Freaking Hallmark! But GOOD!

I had seen this title make the rounds so I know it was popular, but I didn’t know anything about it when I picked it up. Legends & Lattes is a change of pace that you may not know that you need. Check it out.
