Mexican Restaurant Style White Sauce

I enjoy eating at the generic Mexican restaurants that all seem to have the same menu. Number One is always the Speedy Gonzales. You know the ones I am referring to.
The dining experience always starts out with tortilla chips, salsa and sometimes a white sauce. This white sauce was always mysterious to me. The ingredients just weren't obvious. I of course turned to the internet for answers.
The nebulous and illusive ingredient? Miracle Whip!
After learning that, it seems obvious but I never connected the flavor dots on it. If you like this sauce, I encourage you to check out the variety of recipes out there and give it a go. That's what I did, and this is my take on it.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Miracle Whip
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1/3 - 3/4 cup Milk
  • Juice from 1/2 of a Lime
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1 tsp Cayenne
  • 1-2 Tbls Brine from Pickle Jalapeno
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • This is super easy. I recommend mixing up the night before to allow the spices and flavors time to get together and party.
  • Just mix all ingredients listed. Starting with the lesser amount of milk. Stir until smooth. For thinner sauce add more milk, lime juice and/or brine.
  • I used brine left over from homemade Cowboy Candy pickled jalapenos. Sweet & Spicy.
  • Some recipes call for adding pickled jalapenos and combining all ingredients in a blender.

Notes

Make it you own:
• Add your favorite hot sauce.
• Increase the pepper.
• Add or change up the pepper used.
